NEWS ROUNDUP: Cardiff Council’s investment plan and halogen lights at Cardiff Castle

Plans have been revealed by Cardiff Council about what projects it wants to invest in this year - and how much it intends to spend on each one. While work began on some of the plans last year, the funds allocated to each project is split over the course of the programme - meaning many will continue to be developed over several years or some yet to have started.
A colourful new lighting system has been installed at Cardiff Castle as part of plans to improve the street scene, reduce energy use and costs, as well as helping generate additional income. The new system replaces the existing 15 year old, high energy halogen lighting at the Castle, which has not worked properly for a number of years.
And a new Snoopy trail in Cardiff has been delayed until 2022 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, had planned to unleash a number of Snoopy sculptures in the capital this autumn. The charity have now said that they made the "difficult" decision to push the trail back to spring 2022 due to "a lot of uncertainty".
