DERBY DELIGHT: Aden Flint turns South Wales blue
Cardiff City boosted their play-off hopes with a 1-0 victory over local rivals Swansea in the South Wales derby.
Aden Flint scored the only goal of the game as Cardiff hit the front with just eight minutes on the clock.
The defender was the quickest to react following a long throw and headed home from close range.
Kieffer Moore missed a golden chance to double the lead and Swansea poured on the pressure in the second half but were unable to find an equaliser.
The Bluebirds are now up to 8th in the Championship and sit just four points outside the play-off places.
Cardiff spent much of the game on the back foot but were able to see it through to the full time whistle.
Manager Mick McCarthy was full of praise for his team after the game: "We've had to be really solid as a defensive unit.
“It was a very, very hard earned victory and we are very happy. Maybe it was our night, you carry a bit of luck and I am happy to carry a bit of luck.
"It was a big win, we know how big a game this is in this part of the world and we showed that togetherness again today, how much it meant to the players to get the win."
