NATIONAL NEWS ROUNDUP: Twice weekly rapid testing from Friday & travel industry hits out
From Friday, everyone in England will be able to access free, rapid coronavirus tests to be used twice a week.
It's hoped routine testing - alongside the continued vaccination rollout - could assist in helping the unlocking process continue. A new "Pharmacy Collect" service will provide Brits to collect a box of seven rapid tests, with a similar plan believed to be on the way in Wales.
Next and travel industry leaders have criticised government plans advising Brits to avoid booking summer holidays. Travel association body AITO have described the move as "death by back-stabbing, with no sector-specific support whatsoever proffered to help the industry survive”. It's believed a traffic light system will be introduced to allow international travel.
And finally, mid-April is the time Britain will begin the rollout of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine according to deployment minister Nadhim Zahawi.
