BACK ON THE HIGH STREET: How have the people of Cardiff found returning to the shops?
Cardiff’s shops have opened their doors and the high street is back!
Following the news that shops can once again open their doors (Covid-securely), how have the people of Cardiff found returning to the high street?
Shops can open again in conjunction with guidelines outlined by the Welsh Government. Under the new rules, non-essential shops can re-open, all children return to school, close-contact services like nail salons and tattooists can reopen and you can now travel to England.
By 7am, queues had started to form in Cardiff and Swansea city centres with shoppers waiting for the shutters at Primark to go up.
Many shops are opening for the first time this year and shoppers have been asked to stay safe and respect staff. Many stores are holding sales including department store Debenhams which is selling off all its stock before it shuts stores.
