NEWS ROUNDUP: Prince Philip’s special relationship with Wales
In celebration of the life of the Duke of Edinburgh, let’s take a look back at Prince Philip’s special relationship with Wales. In 1954, he was awarded the Freedom of Cardiff - an honour bestowed on fewer than 100 people. The Duke of Edinburgh’s last visit to Wales came in 2011, when he visited the RAF Valley in Anglesey.
Restoration of the castle used in last year's I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! has moved ahead of schedule after featuring on the show last year. Gwrych Castle, near Abergele, has reopened to the public for the first time since the show aired, with extra renovation work done. The castle trust's chief said the work was now two years ahead of schedule. Visitors can now see parts of the castle that were used on the show.
Major industries across south Wales have joined forces to work out how to cut their carbon emissions over the next 20 years. The region is currently the second-largest emitter of greenhouse gases from industry in the UK. Steelworks, cement and chemical firms are amongst those working on the new £40m project.
