NEWS ROUNDUP: Covid deaths in Wales pass 7,000 and 300 coal tips ‘’high-risk’’
The number of deaths involving Covid-19 in Wales has passed 7,000. Despite the grim milestone, The Office for National Statistics have shown that the number of weekly deaths has fallen for a third week in a row.
Almost 300 old coal tips in Wales have been classed as "high-risk". The news comes as we mark a year from when a 60,000 tonne landslip was caused by Storm Dennis. The topic of mine safety will be discussed at a Welsh Government summit on Tuesday.
The scheme to try to hold back floodwater is bidding for £800,000 to continue its vital work. The Upper Conwy project want to slow water to cut down on flooding which occurs lower down the valley in towns such as Llanrwst. This is the first time anyone in Wales has tried to tackle the issue by looking at an entire river catchment.
