NEWS ROUNDUP: Les Misérables returns to the WMC next Christmas
The Welsh Government have confirmed that all adults in Wales will have been offered a first Covid jab by the start of next week - six weeks ahead of schedule. Officials plan to offer second doses to adults by September, while jabs for schoolchildren and boosters for older groups may be offered in the autumn. Mark Drakeford has said that he hopes the second jab programme would be as quick as the first. This comes as Wales has moved into Alert Level One.
Wales' Covid infection rate has been below 10 cases per 100,000 people for one month as no coronavirus deaths in Wales have happened for a 12th day in a row. Public Health Wales did report one death on Monday but it dated back to April 2020, taking the overall Welsh Covid death toll to 5,570 people. Meanwhile, Wales has had the lowest Covid case rate of any UK nation for four months.
And - Les Misérables will return to Cardiff's Wales Millennium Centre next year. Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg’s musical will return for Christmas 2022. The new rendition of the show has been described as “Les Mis for the 21st Century.”
