USEFUL MINUTES: Page happy with performance despite heavy defeat
Robert Page has promised Wales will do everything possible to overturn the red card that looks set to rule Neco Williams out of their final Euro 2020 warm-up game as the manager takes plenty of positives from their defeat against France.
Williams was left “devastated”, according to interim manager Page, after being sent off with just 26 minutes on the clock.
Page said: “Neco is devastated in there. He wanted justification from the referee but he couldn’t get it. We’ll do everything we can to overturn it. If there is a chance to do it, we will.
“That’s the disappointing thing. The plan was to play so many minutes today and building up to Saturday but we can’t do that now."
It was a spirited showing from Wales against the world champions, with very little in it until Williams was dismissed and Page said he has taken a lot of confidence heading in to Saturday's match against Albania:
"We still created chances when we were down to 10 men. Disappointing, but a lot of positives to take going in to Saturday.
"This [the red] might happen in the competition, so we have to deal with it. But there were some big performances from individuals, and we were a constant threat. Playing France with 11 is a difficult task; 10 is even harder."
